Tools for Mastery; why resolutions fail, getting energy for mastery, pitfalls along the path, mastering the commonplace, and packing for the journey. The design is sleek, unlike a lot of the other bulky competitors (@ Hydroflask). It also doesn’t leak which is another huge issue I was running in to with other similar companies. Another plus is it has a place to put cards and also a place to put your phone. I have an iPhone XS with an otterbox case and I’m still able to fit it in between the handle and the bottle which I haven’t been able to with other similar products.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Last month, I was suffering HORRIBLY from cystic acne breakout’s. Every new morning would bring a new set of painful acne bumps. No matter what I ate, how my stress levels were, or what time of the month it was. My skin was pissed. I started taking this liver supplement (the liver is important for over 400 functions in the human body. The things you learn). And it’s helped my digestion, as well as helping to clear up the acne around my chin. Crazy right? If you struggle with acne, indigestion, fatty liver, etc. I highly recommend checking this product out. After two bottles of this I will go to a general liver health supplement, but needed something a little stronger to help get my liver back on track and this has helped tremendously. Purchased on Amazon.</image:caption>

<image:title>blog - 3 Simple and Energizing Morning Practices - 3. HYDRATE</image:title>
<image:caption>before drinking coffee and before eating ANYTHING! I can not stress this one enough. Your body is dehydrated after waking up. You just went 6-9 hours without drinking anything! In order to get the organs functioning properly, we MUST hydrate. Your body is primarily made up of water. Make sure you’re drinking enough! By drinking a cup of water in the morning, you’ll set yourself up for good water intake the rest of the day. You’ll be surprised at how much more energy you have after doing this. Maybe you’ll even be able to start cutting down on your coffee intake! *extra tip: squeeze the juice of a lemon into your water. The lemon juice helps to relieve dehydration, boost metabolism, stimulate the digestive system, and is great for overall liver health.</image:caption>

<image:title>blog - 3 Simple and Energizing Morning Practices - 2. Tongue scraping</image:title>
<image:caption>is such a simple task that sounds absolutely disgusting but has amazing health benefits. While we sleep, our body is trying to get rid of wastes and toxins. When we wake up, those toxins and bacteria form a white film over our tongue. Gross right? What’s even more gross is the idea of swallowing that bad bacteria down back down into your gut. The gut is your second brain. And this is one simple and fast way to help care for your stomach health. Tongue scraping can also help with bad breath and freshening your taste buds (food will taste better after doing this, I promise). I have personally noticed a huge decrease in acne since performing this simple task. Some other people have reported better digestion and even mental clarity. Bye bye brain fog and hello tummy health. Link to tongue scrapers listed below.</image:caption>

<image:title>blog - 10 Things You Need To Know Before Getting A Massage - 7. Hydrate</image:title>
<image:caption>Drink plenty of water to help hydrate your tissues and prevent dehydration. Think of massage like a mini workout for your muscles. It’s important to drink water after a workout right? Do the same thing for after a massage! It helps to flush out the gunk (aka metabolic waste) that’s been accumulating in those tight areas. Also, minimize alcohol consumption before and after getting a massage. I’ve had clients tell me they drank alcohol after a massage and woke up the next day feeling like they had the flu. While this may not happen to everyone, it is best to stick to water after getting a massage.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Whether it’s your first time or twentieth time getting a massage, never be afraid to ask questions when they come up. Some questions people often have: “what muscle are you working on,” “are there any stretches or things you recommend me to do to help with my aches and pains,” “why am I tight there?” etc.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Communicate with your therapist about pressure. It is 110% okay to ask for more or less pressure. You are not being rude or being “too much.” Pressure needs vary throughout the body, so please let us know how we need to adjust. Our goal is to help you as best as we can.</image:caption>

<image:title>blog - 10 Things You Need To Know Before Getting A Massage - 5. Breathe</image:title>
<image:caption>If you’re holding your breath, chances are the pressure may be too deep for your body and you don’t realize it. If you can’t breathe through deep pressure, the massage is causing more tension than release in your muscles. Or if your breath is minimal, you might be really stressed out and need to focus on every inhale and exhale during the massage. Take the time to connect to your breath. Let it help you release tension in your physical and mental body.</image:caption>

<image:title>blog - 10 Things You Need To Know Before Getting A Massage - 4. You don’t have to talk</image:title>
<image:caption>Some people talk to relax. Other people like silence. Some people ask questions related to massage and are quiet the rest of the time. If your therapist is talking to you and you really want to enjoy silence, perhaps just say “I’m going to try to zone out and focus on my breathing, thank you.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>After your massage is over, try to give yourself some time to get back into the real world. Some people rush to work or run errands. Sometimes you don’t have a choice and there are only certain times available. But we encourage you to take some more care of yourself. Maybe do some light stretching, yoga, meditate, schedule a facial for after, just take care of you!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hey everyone! If we haven’t met already, let me introduce myself. My name is Mariyah Martinez and I am passionate about health and wellness. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher, Reiki Practitioner, and Level 1 Certified in Sound Healing. I am formerly certified in personal training, and have a background in bodybuilding and powerlifting. My goal with align 815 is to use the tools I have acquired over my trainings, in order to help clients with mind, body, and spirit. A holistic approach to health and well being. I want to create a safe space where people can come and ask questions about anything related to body & energy work, yoga, and sound healing. And also receive any of these modalities in a single session.</image:caption>

<image:title>about - The Story</image:title>
<image:caption>I started out giving just massage, but the further I get into this work, the more I am being guided to care for my clients at a deeper level. I realize that people need WAY more than just massage, myself included. They have aches and pains more than likely because of what their job or daily duties require. So I wanted to be able to teach people yoga postures that will help them unwind the knots in their body and mind. Stretches (also known as asana’s) designed specifically for whatever their daily activities require. Getting certified in Yoga Instruction then led me to understanding the powers of our subtle/energy body. And how our mental body can affect our physical body, and vice versa. I found myself taking on clients pains and emotions and picking up on things intuitively throughout massage sessions. That’s where Reiki and energy healing comes in to play. I have more recently been drawn to sound as a means for meditation and relaxation. I attended a few sound baths before I decided that this was something I needed to be incorporating into massage sessions and yoga classes. So I attended a three day sound healing immersion training with the Academy of Sound Healing. And from there, I have started to practice this every day on myself and with clients. By blending all of these modalities together, and trusting my intuition, I hope to give my clients the tools and services they need to continue to heal themselves or at least start their journey. While building my practice keeps me pretty busy, in my free time I enjoy spending time with my family (including our pup’s), practicing yoga, weightlifting, traveling, reading, dancing, and learning new things. I would consider myself a “foodie” as well as a movie buff.</image:caption>

<image:title>reiki - 7 Chakras</image:title>
<image:caption>Chakras are tied to certain emotions and these chakras (energy centers) can be underactive, balanced, or overactive. And depending on the chakra and the energy of it, these emotions may manifest in the physical and spiritual body.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5d8ecbf97981504a8935bfb0/1569641746898-7PO2K9O8O9TBHS8D99OA/caged-heart.png</image:loc>
<image:title>reiki - Example of Chakra’s in reality</image:title>
<image:caption>The Heart Chakra. Located around the heart/chest. When it is underactive, we are antisocial, judgmental, we feel lonely and depressed, and fear relationships. When it is balanced, we are compassionate, loving (of SELF and others), empathetic, and peaceful. When it is overactive, we may struggle with setting boundaries, we may become clingy, jealous, over sacrificing, demanding, or co-dependent. Heart chakra imbalances can show up in the physical body as upper back and shoulder problems, as well as arm and wrist pains. Think about when someone is really hurt and how their chest caves in. They hide their heart. Caging it. Protecting it. Which then can cause shortening of chest muscles, lengthening the muscles in the back of the body, causing pain in between the shoulder blades. When Reiki is performed, we work to balance the chakras.</image:caption>

<image:title>reiki - How does a Reiki session work?</image:title>
<image:caption>The practitioner (me), will place her hands on/around/above the energy centers in the body. Channeling good, healing, and intentional energy to pass through the client. Some may say this is devil work, or place their misconceptions on this healing modality. But I know what I believe in, and I try to channel whatever my client believes in. I try not to get too involved in religion, as these sessions are always to serve your highest good. I don’t DO any “healing.” I have never claimed that and I never will. This is your body doing the work. I just facilitate it. I provide a safe space for your emotions to surface in the energy body and pass on healing energy to you to help bring the energy centers back to balance.</image:caption>

<image:title>reiki - Is Reiki like massage?</image:title>
<image:caption>While the reiki practitioner works with the energy body by placing her hands on/around/above the energy centers, she does not necessarily work WITH the physical body. It is not massage in the sense of physical manipulation of tissues. I will be providing stand alone reiki services for those who are feeling they need more energy work, and/or a combination of massage with reiki so you can get the best of both worlds. Some practitioners (not licensed in massage) may do simple things like scalp or hand massages. It all depends on who you go to.</image:caption>

<image:title>reiki - My Reiki Story</image:title>
<image:caption>I became attuned to Reiki I in February 2018 through Becky Brooke (Illuminate Reiki Studio in Davenport, IA). I have waited a long time to offer this service because I wanted to go in and study more about energy on my own. I needed to sharpen my own intuition about others and get familiar with working on clients for massage and studying how people carry their “pains.” A sort of secret mission, if you will. Getting into my second year of massaging, I’ve had quite a few experiences while massaging that made me realize I can’t ignore the power of energy healing any more. I have had people cry on and off my table because of emotions. People’s memories have surfaced. I have had people see colors, and people who normally talk go completely silent when I start working on certain areas. I have taken on clients emotions, as well as their pains. There is great power in human touch and human connection. I am a firm believer in that. And I hope to share that with those who are willing and ready to open up their energy to me.</image:caption>

<image:title>yoga - Connecting mind, body, and breath.</image:title>
<image:caption>I received my 200 hour teaching certificate at Central Park Yoga in Sterling. My yoga classes tend to be gentle, but effective. I focus a lot on the body, safe alignment, and the breath. I am available to do private yoga lessons, small group yoga lessons, bachelorette parties, corporate yoga, and any other events you come up with. Private and group lessons start at $80 an hour. For all other events, shoot me a text or facebook message and we can negotiate a price. To watch and practice some beginner-friendly yoga in the comfort of your own home, I am also starting to film and upload some short sequences to youtube. <image:title>yoga - My Yoga Philosophy</image:title>
<image:caption>Whenever I tell people I teach yoga, I always hear “I’m not flexible enough for yoga” or “I can’t do a handstand” or “I tried it once and it was too hard.” When I started, I couldn’t touch my toes. I still can’t do a handstand. I have been to yoga classes where I had to take a break because I just couldn’t DO it. I believe if you can breathe, and you have a body, then you can do yoga. My goal is to make yoga accessible for everyone.</image:caption>

<image:title>sound healing - What is “sound healing”?</image:title>
<image:caption>In its most basic terms, sound healing is a guided meditation and stress reducer. It creates a safe space to let your body and mind be in the present moment. The thing most people like about sound healing, is that it gives them something to focus on. Unlike traditional meditation, where the mind has a tendency to wander, the instruments used with sound healing help to keep the mind open and present. Through the use of Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, weighted and unweighted tuning forks, drums, chimes, gongs, and the voice, I hope to lead people to a state of ease and relaxation.</image:caption>

<image:title>sound healing - What are the benefits?</image:title>
<image:caption>Sound healing can help with relaxation, reduce stress, improve emotional well-being, and aid alleviation of any aches, pains, and overall tension. It may also help to work through any unprocessed emotions or memories stored in the body. Each person has a unique and individual response to sound healing. Everyone responds and experiences it differently.</image:caption>

<image:title>sound healing - Sound Healing Sessions</image:title>
<image:caption>Sound healing can be used in a one on one session or in a group setting like a yoga class or sound bath. It can be used to clear spaces in homes and buildings. and also be performed in schools or for local community groups. I am also able to be mobile with this practice so I can travel to clients offices, yoga studios, chiropractic clinics, integrative health venues for treatments. Additional fees are applied for sessions requiring travel.</image:caption>
